Andrew P. writes: how effective would your Metallic Seal Up product be on my 2011 gmc 2500 hd 6.6 blown head gasket? And how much would it take? Also, do I have to flush the system before I use it?
My answer to Andrew was basically this: We have fixed many blown head gaskets over the decades. I have seen it work with just one bottle, but it often takes two, especially for larger engines.
Also, you can add it straight to your coolant without needing to flush the system before (or after). You can leave it in to protect against future leaks.
We do recommend backflushing the heater core, if possible, as that component often is restricted already, and can get more restricted. But your cooling system will still work fine if you don't, or can't, because of your situation.
Our website has longer instructions than the bottle, although those on the bottle are sufficient.
