Rough Idle

These Rough Idle deposits form in, (and cleaning can be applied to), 3 general areas of your engine--1. fuel system (cleaned by our Injector Cleaner in fuel tank--very easy), 2. crankcase (cleaned by our Tune Up--easy), and 3. air intake / exhaust (cleaned by our Tune Up plus IV Tube--not difficult).

  • VVT and Cam Position Solenoids: Oil sludge clogs solenoid screens and passageways, throws off timing. And timing is everything! Clean the Screen! Area 2 crankcase

  • Cam Phaser: Oil sludge clogs phaser mechanism, stops it from ‘home position’ at shutdown, causes startup rattle noise, throws off timing. Area 2 crankcase

  • Intake Valves and Air Intake Ports: Carbon buildup disrupts airflow and absorbs fuel. Area 3 air intake / exhaust (Gasoline engines only with our iv tube)

  • Fuel Injectors: Deposits clogs spray nozzles, ruining fuel atomization. Area 1 fuel system / tank

  • Spark Plugs: Soot accumulation causes misfires or weak ignition at low RPM. Area 1

  • Piston Rings: Stuck compression rings lower cylinder compression, causing uneven engine rotation at idle. Area 2 crankcase

  • PCV Valve: Carbon sludge gums up the valve mechanism, causing air leaks into the intake. Area 2

  • Throttle Body / Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve: Restricts precise air entry at idle. Area 3 air intake/ exhaust (Gasoline engines only with our iv tube)

  • EGR Valve: Carbon deposits jam the valve open, diluting the intake charge. Area 3 air intake / exhaust (Gasoline engines only with our iv tube)
