Short answer, yes, you can clean diesel injectors yourself!
Here is the "official" answer from AI: Injectors are not made to be taken apart and cleaned by the average person. There are companies that specialize in it, and have the replacement o-rings and things to do it and sell re-manufactured. The user can keep them clean by buying top-tier gas, or adding a bottle of Te_h__n at a regular interval.
Here is MY answer based on data gathered over the past 58 years of operations: Absolutely you can. There are many add-to-tank additives from many companies. Some are good, some not as good. Motor Purr's Gas & Diesel Fuel Injector Cleaner https://www.motorpurr.com/products is a very strong, old school, potent formula that hasn't changed much in 50 years, back when almost everybody used these very powerful solvents and combustible liquids (we are EPA registered by-the-way).
As a general rule, one 8-ounce bottle of Motor Purr treats up to 20 gallons of fuel, but it will not hurt your engine to mix it stronger. We used to recommend that it treats between 3 and 20 gallons.
It all depends on your sepcific vehicle, its age, its mileage, your driving conditions, etc. But you should notice a considerable difference with the first tank.
Why does the official answer only mention Te_h__n as a potential fix? Hard to say--probably marketing muscle more than everything else. We've certainly been doing this as long or longer. Some would say that their ingredient PEA is why it is ranked at the top. Personally, I recommend doing your own research!
